Set outside of a restaurant aptly titled Lizzo’s, the video (dir. Andy Hines) sees hydraulic cars, tons of dancers and Lizzo strutting her stuff out in the restaurant’s parking lot. Dressed in a blue sequin bikini, a matching blue fur cape, thigh-high boots and a yeehaw-esque cowboy hat, Lizzo is dressed to kill, an outfit that harkens back to her killer SXSW 2019 set. Breaking the barrier of reality a bit, the video even shows people flying and floating off the top of jacked-up cars as Lizzo and her gang of badass women parade around the parking lot.
Much like the song’s lyrics illustrate (“Slow songs, they for skinny girls / Can’t move all of this here to one of those / I’m a thick bitch, I need tempo”), Lizzo twerks and shakes her ass off in the video. Ultimately, she’s reminding humanity what the world has given her, and celebrating it one twerk at a time. No stranger to repping and supporting plus-size women, Lizzo graced the world with this thick girl-loving anthem, and it only helps when none other than Missy Elliott jumps in as your hype-woman midway through the song.
The sexy track is featured on Lizzo’s critically acclaimed 2019 album Cuz I Love You, and the video follows Lizzo’s videos for “Cuz I Love You” and “Juice,” The release of the video also comes just before Lizzo heads out on the second leg of her tour supporting the album, which is almost entirely sold out. The tour stars Sept. 7 in New Orleans and ends Oct. 28 in San Francisco.
