Crumb Give a Trippy First Taste of Their Debut Album Jinx with New Single "Nina"

Brooklyn-based group Crumb announced their debut album Jinx, to be self-released on June 14, with the release of their lead single “Nina” on Tuesday. The track leans into everything that makes Crumb one of the most hypnotic bands to listen to, with sweeping synth, jazzy beats and frontwoman Lila Ramani’s otherworldly voice seamlessly coalescing into a psych dream.

The vocalist/guitarist eerily floats through the video (dir. Haoyan of America) as her bandmates Brian Aronow (synth, keys, sax), Jesse Brotter (bass) and Jonathan Gilad (drums) are stalked by none other than Twin Peaks’ David Patrick Kelly. The actor, also known for his appearance in The Warriors, lopes through the wilderness in a ghillie suit (making this the second music video in as many weeks to show a person in a ghillie suit—is this a new trend? Discuss) as he attempts to record the band on his camcorder. The whole video for “Nina” reads as unsettling in the best way possible, keeping you on edge despite the laid-back soundscape.

“Nina” provides a tantalizing first taste of Jinx. Ramani led the songwriting on their forthcoming debut, with her artistic choices complemented by those of Aronow, Brotter and Gilad.
